Poppy the Labradoodle

For just £1 a week you can sponsor the
training of our latest recruit; Poppy.
She is a gorgeous 12 week old cream Labradoodle puppy who has her heart set
on becoming a fully qualified registered assistance dog and transforming the
life of a disabled person, but she cannot do so without your help.
In return for your sponsorship over the next two years you will receive a
special Puppy Power Pack complete with:
Poppy’s photograph
10 x Poppy postcards
A certificate of sponsorship
Regular updates on Poppy’s progress as she learns all the skills she will
need to become a Support Dog and as she begins her working life
Plus you will have the satisfaction of knowing that you have helped to
transform the life of a disabled person for years to come.

friend and we will send them all of the above plus a “personalized message”
from you.

The Puppy Power Programme |
|
|
Part 1
Poppy will live with her Foster Carer who, under the guidance of our
experienced trainers, will help to teach her basic skills and general
obedience but also introduce her into a variety of new and exciting
environments in order to build up her confidence.
Part 2
At around 1 year old, Poppy will begin her training at our National
Training Centre in Sheffield where our instructors will begin to
developing her basic task work skills such as targeting and pulling,
picking up items and retrieving named items. She will also continue her
socialisation in restricted areas such as shopping centres and public
transport.
Part 3
Once Poppy is around 18 months old, she will undergo a skills
assessment to decide for which programme she is most suited. She will then
be matched with her new owner and together they will begin tailored task
work training to suit her owner’s specific needs until her work reaches
the required standard to qualify.
Part 4
After graduating at around 2 years of age Poppy will begin her working
life as a fully qualified registered assistance dog.
